Still family-owned, First Texas Homes has been doing business for more than a quarter of a century and has more than 45 years of experience in the residential design and construction market. Over the years, First Texas Homes has consistently achieved high customer satisfaction and revenue goals.

The company was among a select group of Dallas-area firms that not only survived the Great Recession of 2007-09, but also thrived during this period. Executives attributed their success to a combination of strategic lot purchases and access to their own capital-funding streams for new construction.

The company’s housing starts totaled close to 900 in 2010, representing a 55 percent increase over the preceding year. It additionally added half a dozen new communities to its portfolio in 2010, a difficult achievement given limited accessibility to lots in desirable locations.

These statistics put First Texas Homes in the top three home-building companies in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The year 2009 had been particularly difficult for the region’s commercial and residential new construction market, with a record number of foreclosure filings and the depreciation of existing housing inventory.
